The Debts Recovery Tribunals have been established by the Government of India under The Recovery of Debts Due to Banks and Financial Institutions Act, an Act of Parliament (Act 51 of 1993) for expeditious adjudication and recovery of debts due to banks and financial institutions.
Debts Recovery Tribunal is also the appellate authority for appeals filed against the proceedings initiated by secured creditors under Sub-Section (4) of Section 13 of the Securitization and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest Act, 2002.
There are Five Debts Recovery Tribunals in the State of Tamil Nadu. Debts Recovery Tribunal, Coimbatore is the Third such Tribunal to be set up in Tamil Nadu. It came to be established on 23'rd March 2002. The Working Hours of this Tribunal is - 10.00 A.M. to 06.00 P.M. Closed Days of the Tribunal: 2nd & 4th Saturday, all Sundays & other Public Holidays.
